At Douglas County Libraries, the playscapes are an essential part of our approach to early literacy, using imaginative play to spark integrated cognitive, physical, social, and emotional learning for children aged 3-8. Empathy, negotiation, cooperation, and positive failures are all learned through unstructured and self-directed play.
The immersive environment of a stylized town corner is dedicated to all things money. It includes a general store alongside a bank equipped with an interactive safe, safety deposit boxes, and teller window for deposits and withdrawals. Inhabiting the imaginative cash corner you’ll find several piggy banks roaming the streets to add personality and whimsy to the environment.
