MOXI opened on February 25, 2017, with 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor exhibit space. The building has three floors (including the rooftop) of interactive exhibits exploring science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) organized around seven themed areas – Tech, Sound, Fantastic Forces, Light, Speed, Interactive Media, and Sky Garden. Part of MOXI’s strategic initiatives includes enhancing the MOXI facilities and exhibits so they remain current, relevant, and fun. Refreshing and/or replacing approximately 20% of the permanent exhibits within five years.

Process Curiosity developed with staff and board members an Exhibition Master Plan to align with MOXI’s strategic initiative and prepare for the next round of development and refinement of the MOXI experience. This experiential planning became the foundation for a full refresh plan for all three levels of exhibitions space and the addition of a custom design of a three-story interactive climber. Currently in Design for all spaces and will begin a phase fabrication plan starting in Fall 2023.
