The Works Museum in Bloomington, MN, moved into a new space in January 2023. With this new space came an opportunity for Process Curiosity to design the exciting new Educational Gateway Experience. Working closely with the Works team, Process Curiosity redesigned the entire museum experience around the engineering process through open-ended interactive exhibits and flexible program spaces.

This project went through a complete design and fabrication process (currently in fabrication). We reimagined an experience for the guests that would incorporate daily tasks completed in an educational and fun way. This concept evolved into the House area. Guests can apply faux siding to the structure. Learn about electrical work, plumbing, and the benefits of solar power. We created a shower area and plumbing wall that allows guests to learn the technique for properly installing tiling as well as the functionality of plumbing. There’s an area with a large circuit breaker that provides power to different appliances and fixtures via LED lighting to show the movement of energy. Many other engineering-driven concepts throughout the space educate the guests about solar power, momentum & inertia, light concepts, and multidisciplinary building skills.
