Creekside Playground

About this project

A large-scale nature playscape at Utah's Hogle Zoo — carved tree towers, a twisting tube slide, climbing nets, and shade sails, all engineered to take year-round outdoor weather and heavy daily visitor loads without reading as an off-the-shelf playground.

Pulling in the local natural environment, we designed and fabricated a playground experience for Hogle Zoo that incorporates a tree house, an animal cove, and several climbing structures. Completed May 2016.

What success looked like

Ten years on, the zoo still promotes Creekside as “the perfect place for kids to connect with nature.”

“The Creekside Play Area is a shaded play area that overlooks Emigration Creek. This play area is the perfect place for kids to connect with nature and for parents to relax after a long day at the zoo.”
